Shaheed Politician & Cabinet Minister of Chhattisgarh & Madhya Pradesh region, Shri Nandkumar Patel was born on 8th November 1953 to Shri. Mahendra Singh Patel & Smt. Indumati Patel a family of farming in Nandeli.
Ever since his childhood, he was keen about being a hand of help for others. He had versatile personality traits that followed various moral values. Motivated by his elders, Nandkumar Patel started inheriting an ideal identity within himself. Due to this he soon became the leader of the rural people of the village.

This year got inked as the beginning year of his political career followed by his position as a Member of Janpad Panchayat, Raigarh (M.P.)

1983-1990

Appointed as the MLA in 9th Vidhan Sabha Elections, Madhya Pradesh (then), Now Chhattisgarh after crushingly defeated Lakhiram Sahu from BJP.

1993

Elected as MLA from Kharsia, M.P Vidhansabha, second time in a row. 

25th Dec. 1994-1995

Director (Madhya Pradesh Library Committee, Zonal Railway Advisory Committee) and Attended Shri Digvijay Singh's cabinet as a State minister.

7th Jan. 1996

Took an oath as State Minister,Water resources, M.P province.

March 1998 - Dec.1998

Worked under Shri. Digvijay Singh's cabinet as State Minister, Home Department.

28th Nov. 1998

Elected as MLA from Kharsia, M.P Vidhansabha, third time in a row.

1998-2000

Continued working in the cabinet as Home Minister & also did appreciative works in the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

Nov. 2000 - Dec. 2003

Became the first Home Minister of Chhattisgarh, Also worked as minister of home department, jail department, civial aviation & transport department respectively.

4th Dec. 2003

Won the Kharsia Vidhansabha Elections for the 4th time. Became the member of Social Rights Committee, Government Undertaking Committee & Library Committee.

Feb. 2006

After years of success, finally became the member of All India Congress Committee.

Nov. 2008

Elected as MLA from Kharsia, C.G. Vidhansabha, 5th time in a row.

April 2011

He was elected as the Congress State President.

May 2013

Was brutally killed in Jheeram Valley naxalite attack.
